Baroque
The earliest manifestations of Baroque art date from the latter decades of the 16th century from Italy, while in some regions, such as Germany and colonial South America, Baroque did not occur on a larger scale until the 18th century. Baroque consists of artists' desires to evoke emotional states by appealing to the senses, often in dramatic manners. Softer texture and edges within the various artworks characterize Baroque, usually dealing with dramatic events and ideas. As the Baroque art style evolves out of the Italian Renaissance, many works closely resemble those of 14th, 15th, and 16th century Italy, including Classical Era ideals.
